What is sugarcane bagasse, and why is it used for a diary cover?

Sugarcane bagasse is the dry fibrous material left behind after sugarcane stalks are crushed for juice. It is one of farming's most abundant by-products — generated in vast quantities every harvest season and typically burned in the field or discarded. Pressed and dried, it becomes a firm, naturally textured cover board with a warmth and character that no wood-pulp or synthetic material replicates.

The surface has a subtle grain from the original cane fibres. No two covers are quite identical. The pages are made from a wheat straw blend.
